WHAT DISNEY SAYS:
Bedtime Stories is an adventure comedy staring Adam Sandler as Skeeter Bronson, a hotel hanyman whose life is changed forever when the bedtime stories he tells his neice and nephew start to mysteriously come true. When he tries to help his family by telling one outlandish tale after another, it's the kids' unexpected contributions that turn all of their lives upside down.
OUR REVIEW:
Bedtime Stories is not as kid friendly only in the fact that it will not keep younger kids attention to the story. Even kids in the 7-10 age range will loose interest pretty quickly as the story emphasizes Skeeter's predicament in wanting a better job at the hotel his father used to own. If they can stick to the movie, they will love the story telling scenes, where the kids fill in ideas for their Uncle's story telling. Once the movie goes back to the real world, kids again will loose interest and might not get the connections to the bedtime stories.
The good news is that unlike many Adam Sandler movies with adult humor and language, Bedtime Stories has mostly cartoonish violence, very little name calling and fairy tale type romance, all mostly from a kid's perspective. There is also some gross humor with the buggar monster in the end, but it is really more funny than gross.
Some of the characters are pretty annoying, taking perfect parenting way too far, but still a cute movie. We expect kids between the ages of 12 and 16 to enjoy most of the jokes and storyline.
