Synopsis:
I have to start by saying that any movie labeled G, PG, or PG-13 should not in any way shape of form joke about suicide or making a suicide pack. Because Bee Movie does jokingly comment about a suicide pack being the solution to the problems the characters are having, I strongly recommend not seeing this movie with your children, especially children that are struggling with depression.
That being said, even without the mention of suicide, Bee Movie is dull and boring. It starts out with Barry, the bee who is not as eager to start his life making honey as the other bees. Wanting to explore the world outside the hive, he flies out to explore New York City, where he encounters Vanessa Bloome, a florist who saves his life from being smashed. They begin what is joked about as a "romantic" relationship. Upon one of their outings, Barry discovers the bee's honey is being stolen and sold with out the bee’s knowledge. He decides to sue the manufacturers and wins. Since the bees now get all the stolen honey back, they no longer have to make more, but this throws earth's ecosystems off and the lack of bee pollination dooms the earth.
Most children in the theatre seemed to be bored and there were even comments about wanting to leave half way through. The jokes are not funny, the characters are annoying and the moral of the story is we need bees to pollinate flowers. Not exactly a shocking revelation.
