Synopsis:
Beverly Hills Chihuahua takes the cake when it comes to family films with animals as the main characters. The story line is endearing and the dogs are very charming. Drew Barrymore’s voice is a perfect match to interpret Beverly Hills most pampered pooch, Chloe.
The movie starts with a look at what life is like when you are rich, beautiful and living in Beverly Hills. When you are the favorite Chihuahua, life is great. Spa days, gourmet meals, custom clothing and don’t forget the matching booties. Life could not be better, but when Chloe’s owner has to leave for a grueling business trip, Chloe is left with her less than enthusiastic niece. What is supposed to be a short trip to Mexico ends up being the journey of a life time for Chloe as she sees the real world and makes some unforgettable friends.
The movie uses a clever mix of music and dialogue to bring the story along and although the plot does include Chloe’s capture by Mexican dog fighters, the movie does not elaborate on what dog fighting actually is. In fact the actual fight never takes place and Chloe only suffers the loss of her cashmere sweater. There is very little name calling or other questionable material, however smaller children might loose interest early in the show, just because much of the dialogue will be over their little heads.
