We have eaten at Buca di Beppo several times, seated in several different areas. The theme of the restaurant is obviously Italian. Italian food of course, but also Italian themed decorations. Each "room" is decorated with classic Italian pictures and images, from famous Italians to unknown Italian families.
The menu features classic Italian food; salads, pasta, pizza and soups. Buca di Beppo relies on the natural flavors of vegetables and cheeses to spice up their dishes using very little seasoning. Some of the dishes lack flavor because of this, but most of the menu benefits from the mix of flavors. As with all family friendly restaruants, Buca di Beppo has a kid's menu that will keep your little ones happy; pizza & pasta being the main features.
The decorations of the restaruant are pretty stereotypically Italian; plenty of people eating pasta and drinking wine. However, you are sure to find plenty of pictures you may not want your kids looking at. Some as suggestive as ladies bent over, some with kids holding up their middle finger, some with big busted women flaunting a lot of cleavage and some with women in sheer barely there lingere. The worst pictures are themed in the bar area, where families are seated when the restaurant is full. Parents will want to be prepared to answer questions about some of the questionable pictures if children are paying attention.
Visitors also need to know Buca di Beppo has a family portions menu to order from, meaning each dish serves 3-5 people. You will want to make sure everyone likes the same kinds of food since you will only want to order one or two dishes.
Overall the food is good, the service is adequate, but the atmosphere may not be appropriate for all ages.
