Synopsis:
The new Chicken Little by Disney is right up there with Finding Nemo and Toy Story 1 & 2. Although Disney did not work with Pixar on this film, the visual animation is just as good as it has been.
Chicken Little has embarrassed himself and his family when he claims to have been hit by a piece of the sky. When his father arrives, suddenly the sky is gone and only an acorn is left, leaving the town to believe Chicken Little is a little off. The constant underdog, Chicken Little tries and tries to make his father proud and continues to find himself in the middle of embarrassing situations. That is until he joins the school baseball team that his father was once the hero of. After two strikes, Chicken Little hits the ball to become the hero of the game and bringing pride back to his family name. Just as things are getting better for Chicken Little, the sky once again takes aim. This time Chicken Little does not want anyone but his friends to know, but is forced to alert everyone when the sky turns out to be robotic aliens. In the end, Chicken Little is recognized as not being crazy since the sky really was falling.
The main plot surrounds the issue of the sky is falling, but in true Disney form, the story is really about the relationship between a father and son. With Chicken Little’s mother gone, Buck Cluck is left not knowing how to support, believe and love his son, Chicken Little. Instead of standing up for him, he allows the town to shame him and even tells his son to plan on disappearing. Chicken Little’s friend, Ugly Duckling, pushes him to talk to his dad, and once he does, their relationship gets better. Very sweet, but I always wonder why the mother has to die…I guess because the mom would not make so many funny mistakes. In any case, the movie is adorable and definitely worth seeing, maybe even twice.
