COMMENTARY:
Our staff attended The Woodlands Children's Festival at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and found out The Pavilion is not designed to accommodate high volume traffic constantly moving. Strollers were lined up everywhere and there did not seem to be very many staff helping move people in the right direction.
Craft and Fun stations were manned by friendly volunteer staff, mostly teenagers which made everything seem more cool to little kids. Having volunteers is a wonderful idea, however when the majority of the festival is run by people who had no input on planning and no leadership, everyone just kind of does their own thing and it gets a little messy at times.
The shows have gotten better over the years but still do not hold the short attention span of kids. Kids want to see something they don't usually get to see and so some of the activites were a bit boring. It would have been nice to see more of the characters out and about, not just on stage.
There was no action on the hill and the lines were very long and moving slowly. The Pavilion staff seemed to be doing a great job at the concessions and were very friendly as well.
Traffic is still congested, but if you can leave the stroller at home, it is worth attending.
