The film stars Oscar winner Morgan Freeman as Dr. Ken McCarthy, who is given the seemingly impossible task of crafting a new prosthetic tail for Winter; Harry Connic, Jr. as Dr. Caly Askett, who runs the Clearwater Marine Hospital; Ashely Judd as Lorraine, a single mother; Nathan Gamble as her son, Sawyer, who frees Winter from the trap and forms an istant connection with the dolphin.
OUR REVIEW:
Dolphin Tale is a wonderful movie with a powerful messae...never give up! Although it is strongly compared to the recently released Soul Surfer, the story is very different. Yes, both movies deal with living life after a tragedy, obviously one is about a girl and the other an animal. That said, it is no less powerful. When Sawyer, a very shy, unpopular and un-motivated 11 year old, helps rescue a dolphin stranded on the beach, his life changes. He finds a passion he never had before and a friend he never expected.
For younger children, the movie is probably to slow, but for older kids and adults, the images of the dolphin' struggle to survive are moving and entertaining. 4-12 year olds especially will be excied to see the dolphin swim and interact with the people.
A great, must see family movie we will be buying as soon as is available or digital copy!
