Synopsis:
Enchanted is an adorable fairy tale that meshes together all the favorite parts of classic Disney princess movies past. The lonesome maiden Giselle dreams of her prince charming and true love's first kiss, the most powerful thing in the world. After being saved from a troll in the woods by Prince Edward, the two are to be married the next day. Edward's step mother has different plans however, and sends Giselle to New York City, a place where there are no happily ever afters. Giselle's journey in New York and discovery that her true love might actually be someone other than Prince Edward are what make this movie adorable. Her optomistic outlook stays strong, despite her struggles and little girls of all ages will love her. (Moms included)
Parents need to know the last 15 minutes of the movie is scary, which is why the movie is PG. The step mother turns into a dragon and terrorizes Dempsey's character. Girl power prevails as Giselle saves him, a twist on the classis damsel in destress. There are also some dating/relationship innuendo that will go over kid's heads and there is a scene where Giselle is getting out of the shower, covered in a towel, and falls on Robert, but it is done with a certain innocence. There is also a character that drinks at a bar and Giselle is served an apple martini, although she does not drink it.
Overall the message of the movie is even though true love doesn't always come in a predictable "Prince Charming" package, your dreams can still come true.
