| Healthy Kids Snacks Posted in Sweets by Christine April 21, 2009 09:35am I am looking for healthy sweets, cupcakes, snacks for kids. I don't want my kids to feel left out at lunch without a snack in their lunchbox, but my kids are a little overweight and I need some better options than Little Debbies and Lays!

| Cheryl Said: On May 13, 2009 at 5:26pm If you are making your cupcakes/cookies from scratch, use a sugar substitute like Splenda instead of sugar.
If you want store bought, there are several sugar free varieties out there are still really yummy. Like Murray's sugar free cookies. They have a fudge dipped mint that tastes like the Thin Mints. Also, do the kids like jello or pudding? These are good options because you can get the sugar free variety too. Or just fresh fruit is the best thing. Smart food offers high fiber popcorn options in different flavor. They do have sugar but not near as much as if you get a regualr caramel corn.
For chips use Cheetos brand puff corn. It tastes a lot like cheetos puffs but is VERY low in sugar and calories.
When it comes to drinks, offer only 100% fruit juices. Or something like the V8 juice blends. Then they get an extra serving of fruits and veggies.
Good Luck!

| Mary Said: On May 17, 2009 at 4:34pm I like to freeze yogurt either in the homemade popsicle containers or with the yogurt in the tubes. The kids think they are eating popsicles, but they are eating something more healthy. This is great as a snack or as breakfast!
