Our Review:

Journey to The Center of The Earth has a very unique way of telling a story based on a story which uses the story as guide to the story...confused?  As mentioned above, the movie is based on the novel, Journey to the Center of The Earth and the book makes several appearances as being a guide to what the characters are experiencing.  The movie basically says the book is a non-fiction memoir the author wrote to let people know about what is really at the center of the earth.

When Trevor Anderson's nephew comes to stay with him while his mom is setting up a new home, Trevor and Sean find themselves on a journey to re-trace the steps Max Anderson, Trevor's brother and Sean's father,  took over ten years ago when he disappeared.  Their travels lead them to Iceland, where the two plus a mountain guide hike up a volcano to find a sensor left behind by Max.  When the three are caught in a cave, they find walls of rare gems, but also find much more than they anticipated.

With some of the adventure scenes and prehistoric creatures being intense and scary, this movie is not recommended for younger children.  However, for those who are not easily frightened, the movie is a must see, especially with the 3-D effects and heart-warming message about how important it is to believe in yourself and your family.
