Synopsis:
Nim's Island is another movie that has fallen victim to a misguiding trailer. The movie takes place mostly on a inhabited island, that is with the exception of Nim and her father, who have adapted life on the island in order to find a new species of plankton. Upon one of his outings, the father gets lost at sea and Nim reaches out to the brave adventurer, Alex Rover. Alex, however, is a woman afraid to leave her own home, let alone help a child across the ocean. The major difference between the trailer and the movie is that the island is not really under attack by pirates, but by tourists and the great adventure is really just a couple of pranks. Some of the storyline follows closely to Home Alone, but is not nearly as funny or entertaining. Some scenes are not very well developed and don't really follow the main storyline and in the end, Alex Rover falls for Nim's dad for no real reason, it just fast forwards to them as a happy family and then its over.
Children will like this movie because of the animals and how relatable Nim is, but it is not really a movie worth seeing more than once.
