Walt Disney Pictures presents Tangled, one of the most hilarious, hair raising tales ever told.  When the kingdom's most wanted - and most charming - bandit Flynn Rider hides out in a a mysterious tower, he's taken hostage by Rapunzel, a beautiful and feisty tower-bound teen with 70 feet of magical golden hair.

Flynn's curious captor, who's looking for her ticket out of the tower where she's been locked away for years, strikes a deal with the handsome thief and the unlikely duo sets off on an action-packed escapade, complete with a super-cop horse, and over-protective chameleon and a gruff gang of pub thugs.  In theatres this holiday season in Disney Digital 3D, Tangled is a story of adventure, heart, humor and hair - lots of hair.

OUR REVIEW:

Tangled is not going to live up to Disney's list of great classic fairy tales.  While the animation is beautiful and Rapunzel is cute, the characters are otherwise boring and uninteresting.  We start with the story of Rapunzel's birth.  The Queen was sick and required the magical powers of a golden flower to live.  Mother Gothel however, does not want to share the powers of the golden flower and when those powers are transfered to Rapunzel, Mother Gothel kidnapps her and raises her in the tower, secluded from the rest of the world.  She brainwashes Rapunzel to stay in the tower, manipulating her with the idea that "Mother knows best".  When Rapunzel does finally get up the courage to escape, she feels conflicted on betraying her mother and living her dreams.

Beyond suggesting to kids that maybe Mother does not know best and maybe they should live their life however they want, the movie does not have a strong message.  Although the violence is minimal and the content is appropriate, the story is boring and kids will likely forget the story quickly after watching the movie.
