Synopsis:
Underdog starts out as rejected police dog, who gets zapped by the city's mad scientist and develops superpowers. He unexpectedly finds himself at the home of a detective wanabee security guard and his disgruntled teenager. Naming him shoeshine, he starts out as an unwelcome pet, but once the teenager finds out he has superpowers, and can talk, the two fight crime all over the city.
The beloved rhyming canine does not really resemble the cartoon parents will remember, but most children won't know the difference anyway. There is nothing remarkable about the graphics and plot is pretty predictable. But who doesn't love a flying talking dog?
Parents should be aware that there is some flirting with some of the dogs and teenagers and cartoon like violence; all very Home Alone style. Some of the mean dogs are scary and the language and tone the mad scientist uses is harsh. Overall, not a movie for small children, but older children will probably enjoy.
